Dr. Mohamed El-Gafy is an assistant professor in the School of Planning, Design and Construction at Michigan State University. Previous to joining the faculty at MSU, Dr. El-Gafy was a faculty member in the Construction Management Program at Illinois State University. He also has worked in industry for P.J. Hoerr Construction Inc. based in Peoria, IL.

Dr. El-Gafy’s main research interest is the understanding and management of construction organizations through the design and development of mechanisms, models, and systems that enhance systematic understanding, effective visualization, and proactive management. To realize his research topics, Dr. El-Gafy uses diverse simulation methodologies (e.g., System Dynamics and Agent-based Simulation) and information technologies (e.g., Automated Data Capture, Ant Colony Optimization).
