Research Interests: economic development, community development policy and applications

During my tenure at Michigan State University, I have served as a teacher, scholar, administrator and developed a comprehensive community outreach program. Throughout this period my teaching and research have focused on economic development and community development policy and applications.

Teaching Goal
To be "mission essential" in terms of program goals for teaching. To be actively involved in achieving teaching and curriculum design excellence as expressed in the Program Mission:
“To provide future practitioners the knowledge, practical skills and values to enable them to become effective, and to improve the quality of urban places and regions”

Research Goal
To pursue a strong, structured research agenda that focuses on the link between theory and practice with a special emphasis on local community and economic development and urban revitalization. Research effective ways of integrating community outreach in to the classroom.

Outreach Goal
To be actively involved with planning activities in the Northeast. To be "mission essential" in terms of Program goals for outreach.
“To address community problems by linking knowledge and practice and by facilitating mutual learning between community and university.”
