SLC is the national honor society for construction students. Organized at MSU by Professor William B. Lloyd in 1949, MSU holds the alpha charter. To qualify for membership, students must have an accumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. The society's objectives are to promote academic excellence; to serve the field of construction; to promote good relations among academia, the industry, and the public; and to recognize outstanding professionals in the construction and allied fields.

At MSU, the chapter reviews the CM program to ensure the curriculum meets current and projected industry needs. It also offers special loans and organizes tutoring programs for all CM students.
