Welcome

We are proud of the Construction Management Program (CMP) at Michigan State University. The construction industry is a trillion-dollar industry that represents 12% of the GNP and one way or another touches everybody's life and all businesses' bottom lines. If you think about it, we all work, live, and play for the most part in built environments. Students that study Construction Management at Michigan State University will gain the knowledge to develop rewarding careers in an industry with positions that range from project management to construction schedulers or estimators, up to owners of their own companies. The construction industry is one of the largest employers representing 6% of all private sector jobs.

The CMP at Michigan State has provided national leadership in the area of construction management since 1948 and our curriculum has matured over those years into one of the best available. We are accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) attesting to the strength of our academic program. Only about 50% of all four year Construction Management programs are accredited by ACCE. Our students take classes in management, contracts, finance, estimating, scheduling, real estate, structural design, accounting, building codes, business law, safety, materials, many with computer applications. We also have an excellent internship program that provides first class opportunities for our students to receive "hands on" real world experiences. The students in Construction Management are given a world class opportunity to learn all about the management aspects of construction. After graduation an excellent array of employment opportunities is available with admirable starting salaries, most with fast track advancements.

We take pride in being very "student" oriented, therefore our students and faculty are enthusiastic about our program and close personal interaction with our faculty is not only encouraged but expected. Extracurricular activities through student organizations lead to early contacts with upperclassmen and to valuable leadership opportunities.

The Construction Management Program at Michigan State University has a long history of success stories. Our alumni and the construction industry have certainly been supportive of our initiatives and students. We are proud of this fabulous academic unit and welcome you to view our web site.
