Academic Advising

The purpose of meeting with an advisor is to make sure your academic plan is helping you move in the correct career direction, and to assist you in finding answers to any questions you may have about your courses and./or career plans. Advisors can also assist by referring you to professionals who can address your specific questions about a career field. It is a good idea to keep a folder or notebook of your academic planning and bring it with you to advising appointments. It is important to come to an appointment prepared with a list of questions, as well as any planning materials you have assembled.
It is recommended that students bring this handbook to all advising sessions.

We strongly encourage you to meet with an advisor at least once during the academic year to make sure you are on the right track. Additional meetings may be beneficial from time to time.
