AFS, Inc.’s Alan Scott to speak at Apr. 18 SPDC Industry Seminar Series

The MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction is hosting the 11th Industry Seminar Series event Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Human Ecology Building on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) is hosting the 11th Industry Seminar Series event Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Human Ecology Building on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The featured speaker is Alan Scott, president and owner of Alan F Scott (AFS), Inc. He is a 1973 graduate of MSU’s Construction Management Program. Scott was previously co-founder and managing member of The NRP Group LLC. He will present on “Challenges and Opportunities ahead for Single-Family and Multi-Family Builders.”

As part of AFS, Inc., Scott is a builder and developer of affordable housing, market rate apartments, land developments and a shopping center.

During his time at The NRP Group, he was responsible for multifamily and single-family unit development, as well as management of retail and new product development. He also served on the NRP Advisory Board.  

Prior to co-founding The NRP Group, Scott was president of Zaremba Development Company for seven years, where he was involved in the development and construction of more than 3,500 apartments and four million square feet of retail properties. Scott is also a past president of the Ohio Home Builders Association and Cleveland Home Builders Association, and he is an inductee in the Affordable Housing Hall of Fame.

The SPDC Industry Seminar Series consists of lectures by invited speakers who are industry leaders in the Built Environment profession. Past presenters include:

Joseph Maguire, president and CEO of Wolverine Development Corporation, and president and co-founder of SERF, serves as the facilitator of the Series.

This event is free and open to the public. The lecture will take place from 5-5:45 p.m. in Room 300 in the MSU Human Ecology Building in East Lansing. A reception follows the event.
