SPDC Industry Seminar Series Welcomes Wolverine Development Corp.’s Joe Maguire as featured speaker

On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, the MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) is hosting the fifth event in their Industry Seminar Series in Room 300 of the Human Ecology Building on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, the MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) is hosting the fifth event in their Industry Seminar Series in Room 300 of the Human Ecology Building on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The featured speaker will be Joseph Maguire, president and CEO of Wolverine Development Corporation, and president of the Society of Environmentally Responsible Facilities (SERF). He also serves as the facilitator of the Series. Maguire will present on Reusing Commercial Sites – A Case Study. Maguire’s 3rd-generation family company (Wolverine Development Corp.) owns and rehabilitates commercial properties in Michigan and Florida. He specializes in the adaptive reuse of older structures and is a published author in that field. As co-founder of SERF, he helped bring together real estate industry professionals seeking a more streamlined, affordable and accessible path to green building certification. The Society also provides resources and forums to promote and share methods to cost effectively achieve Practical Environmental Stewardship.

The SPDC Industry Seminar Series consists of lectures and presentations by invited speakers who are industry leaders in the Built Environment profession. Past presenters include:

  • Ron Boji, president of The Boji Group;
  • Jay Smith, executive vice president of Construction Operations and Corporate Safety officer at The Christman Company;
  • Bob and Karen Schroeder, president and vice president, respectively, of Mayberry Homes; and
  • Pat Gillespie, chief visionary, founder and president of the Gillespie Group.

This event is free and open to the public. The lecture will take place from 5-5:45 p.m. in Room 300 in the MSU Human Ecology Building in East Lansing. A reception sponsored by the Wolverine Development Corp. will follow the lecture from 5:45-6:30 p.m.
