Inspired Furniture Project: Triangular Lounge Chair

Author: Lauren Jenkins

Class: IDES 250 CAD & Structural Systems

The initial design is to create a supportive structure that will be both aesthetically pleasing with its eco-friendly, modern design and be functional as well. The seating pattern will be a triangular plush seating with a high-tech purpose of reducing inflammation. The chair’s design will include cooling coils for the elderly or highly athletic users who may be in need of hydrotherapy more frequently. The modern design is inspired by Andrew Watts, “It’s All about the Approach,” chair design; the way the arms travel through the body of the chair and the chair angles will be incorporated into the final structure. The goal is to enhance the comfort for the functional use, while still keeping an aesthetic appeal. This will impact users to have a convenient way of accessing hydrotherapy more easily and with comfort.
